“To take on one challenge today, one small challenge, one tiny awakening… What would that be?”
The warrior poses seek to encourage strength and confidence. Exalted Warrior revels in the joy of this discovery. The Exalted Warrior sequence focuses on reaching: reaching up, reaching out. As you extend your reach outward, your senses steady and your body calms. It is in this space that confidence can be found.
In the warm up, you experience Kate’s Heart Opening Breath-Body Link. As you reach out, a feeling of openness fills your heart and mind. In drawing outstretched arms back to center, it’s as if you can gather positive energy and place it directly into your heart.
When first reaching into the Exalted Warrior pose, your spirit lifts and a smile is almost inevitable! Coming back to Warrior II is a moment to rebalance yourself before you reach up again for more. It is in this moment you can visualize yourself going for more, in whatever arena your mind entertains in that moment.
The Warrior poses are also about balance in the mind and body. You can lose your balance in all of that joy! This is where you find a mid-point between under and over-confidence.
“Don’t worry how it looks, just feel how it feels,” Kate reminds in her soothing voice.
Kate brings you to your mid-point by first guiding you to stretch into the Exalted pose, then bringing you all the way to the Earth in Lateral Angle pose. You find your flow. With repeated practice, your eyes find a steady gaze, mind quiets, and breath aligns with the body. It is here you also discover your individual qualities of courage, honor and strength.
As your reach from the Earth back to the heavens above, notice the rush of energy through your upper body. Give thanks for the strength in your legs. Appreciate the lift and collect the confidence to take with you as you move forward through your day.
Heather Gregory is an avid Namaste yogini and has been practicing the sequences nearly every day for three years. Her favourite part of Namaste is the opportunity it affords to find her calm, collected center and carry that forward through each day. We enlisted Heather to embark on the 26 -week journey and blog about each sequence.
Everyone has a different experience with Namaste sequences. We want to hear about yours. What do you experience when practicing the Exalted Warrior sequence?
