We've had such a fun month! Not only have we maintained our focus on our Namaste Yoga Sadhana, but we also expanded to learn about the journey of one very energetic Namaste Yogini. Our wonderful and blissfully diverse community provides yet another way to learn and grow with Namaste Yoga. We encourage you to keep sharing your stories, thoughts and experiences. Every member of our community is a potential source of growth, learning and inspiration!
Revelation - Transformation - Concentration
Through yoga, we find so many things. This month, we've enjoyed the revelations of our community, as they saw how the practice can transform both the mind and the body! With focused effort, concentration improves and the benefits of the practice keep flowing... well beyond the mat and into the lives of those around us.
Have you been there? That moment, mid-sequence, when you realize 'hey, I just did that!" Kerry has: "I was surprised at how great my balance is getting!" The accomplishment doesn't have to be a physical one to be monumental. For Marilyn, "movement and stillness" was a wonderful find!
Our Blooper Reel met a very warm reception. As Jane said "Even bloopers are beautiful!" Of course! Don't we learn the most from our mistakes? Lisa seemed to find the heart of it all when she said "It's reassuring to see what appears so perfect is really so normal!" A wonderful reminder that we never really know what lies just beneath the surface of so many things we encounter along the path.
Of course, the ultimate rush often comes in those exciting moments when you realize you are stronger and more capable than you knew! "I love to try one that I 'think' I can't do," says Veronica. "When I try, I CAN do it! I am a beginner, but it is always inspiring to keep moving into the next levels and poses. I love it."
Do you feel it? We can see it! Your comments show it over and over again. "Spirits soaring as I find balance, strength and stretch," Nicole said. Strength builds, and confidence along with it! Transformation happens at any age, any stage of life, so long as we stay open to the possibilities. "Flexibility!" Stella exclaims. "Moving without creaking bones!!!!" Isn't it wonderful to melt away the stiffness of a long day or from the stillness of sleep?
Susan said "this has changed my life and opened up so many avenues."
The possibilities are endless! You love how you feel, you love who you are... you may even learn others are loving how you look! "It works a lot of muscles in a short time and is a great balance exercise," Luke said. "Nice butt exercise too, girls love a great butt on a guy!!" Thank you for confirming yoga pants alone don't create that benefit Luke!
Many athletes in all different stages of their careers have also realized the advantages of having a yoga practice. Strong, supple muscles are less likely to suffer injuries and are more likely to recover fully when injured. Even past injuries respond to the healing benefits of yoga. "With age, us ex-college athletes tend to feel those old injuries," Scott explains. "Yoga has really helped gain back much needed flexibility."
Doris says Namaste Yoga equates to total self-care. "Anyone who indulges themselves with these gems understands the concept of nourishing the body, mind and soul," she declares. Heather says her daily morning practice "starts my day on a very even note!" According to Nicole, the right time to begin your practice is now. "Namaste Yoga meets you where you are and takes you places you never thought you would find."
To gain maximum benefit from yoga, and anything in life really, concentration is a must! The more you can focus, the more you tune into the tiny details that really can create huge changes in your expression of the poses. "I found I could do more with even the most simple cat rolling," Amy said. "Doing the same exercise every day for the designated week has taught me something new in each one."
"I try to focus on my breath," Gina explains. "When I wobble it is usually because I am not breathing." Excellent realization Gina! The breath is key, and something that is so easy to take for granted. If you are making a conscience choice to focus on something, go for the breath, and not just on the mat! Cleansing breaths, like yoga pants, do incredible things for your body and your mindset.
"I wouldn't say it has saved my life, but... wait, yes it has," Adam says. "Flexibility, for sure, but also sneaky strength benefits from both Vinyasa and Ashtanga. Serenity. Energy. Improved golf. Better sleep. Now I need it. Not a bad need at all." Like so many of our community members, Adam explained that his practice began with Namaste Yoga. "Before I started going to my local studio twice a week, I DVR'd Namaste shows and practiced that way. It got me ready and body-aware and that really helped."Next month, we will be three fourths of the way through our 26-sequence Sadhana! Thank you for joining us on this journey. Can you see how far you've come? What have the sequences revealed to you? We love hearing from our community, so don't forget to share all of your growth and questions with us on our Facebook wall, Twitter page, or even Pinterest!
